Boxing Mouth Guard

If you are a boxer you must use a boxing mouth guard every time you go into either a sparring session or you are actually fighting.

A boxing mouth guard helps to protect your teeth and concussions from occurring during fights. You always want to have your mouth closed and protect your chin while you are boxing. If your chin is open and you get hit, it’s easier for you to go into the knock down position where somebody can knock you down easier.

So again, get a good boxing mouth guard and always keep your mouth closed no matter what you are doing, even if you are doing sparring drills, or sparring sessions and especially when you go into a fight wear a boxing mouth guard, unless you want to lose your teeth.

Considerations When Purchasing A Boxing Mouth Guard

Always make sure that your boxing mouth guard is comfortable and stays in place.  Your mouth guard shouldn’t be bulky, irritates your teeth or the soft tissues of your mouth.

You can also adjust your mouth guard by trimming off some of the plastic on the mouth guard.  However, please keep in mind that any portion of a mouthguard that is trimmed away may compromise the level of protection that the guard provides.

Boxers and athletes are sometimes hesitant to wear their mouth guards because they have trouble speaking or breathing when they wear them.  These problems however commonly arise from ill fitting mouth guards, so always make sure that your mouthguard is nice and snug.

Also as boxing is a high contact sport, make sure you buy a nice and thick boxing mouthpiece.  4mm+
